Napoleon recently sat down with LeChairman of Oui Hustle, where the former Outlawz member explained why Dramacydal never released an album.
Prior to his incarceration and ultimately signing with Death Row records, Tupac Shakur was already making his mark in the music industry. His first two albums gave us hits such as ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’ and ‘Keep Ya Head Up.’
His third studio album ‘Me Against The World,’ topped the charts as Shakur was behind bars. An album that featured his closest comrades in E.D.I. Mean, Kastro, Napoleon and Yaki Kafi. Calling themselves Dramacydal, the group was ready to release its debut album after signing with Interscope as Tupac sat in prison.
“When ‘Pac got locked up we did sign a contract with Interscope, but we were under the name Dramacydal. Myself E.D.I., and Kastro. At that time just us four,” Napoleon said on Oui Hustle YouTube channel.
‘Killin Fields’ was the very first song recorded by Dramacydal, but, just as the direction in Tupac’s mindset changed when he signed with Death Row records, so did the plans for any Dramacydal releases.
“I think Kadafi might have been in and out of the studio. But, me, Kastro and E.D.I. flew out to L.A. to an album. ‘Pac was in jail at that particular time. We signed with Interscope. We were gonna release it through Interscope, but then he got the phone call that he’s gonna sign with Suge Knight. So he was like, ‘I’m not going to release that album.’”
Tupac would then be released from prison thanks to Suge Knight posting a $1.4 million dollar bail. Along with the additions of Hussein Fatal and Young Noble, the Outlawz were formed.
